A new home, or a resale home- what’s really best for you depends on what you want in a place that you’d like to call “home.” In this article, we’re going to look at some of the benefits of both new and resale homes.
What Home Should You Buy: New Or Resale?
A brand new home is essentially a blank canvas, and you are holding the figurative paint brushes- you get to have a part in planning out how you want to organize it. It’s a previously uninhibited structure, and you have the opportunity to be its first owner. Even if some of the fixtures may need to be upgraded in the future for aesthetic purposes, you can still say that you are the proud owner of a new home!
On the flip side, resale homes may include more essentials. Depending on the agreement reached with the previous owner, several appliances, furniture sets, and other bonuses such as backyard swimming pools and hot tubs may be included with the package.
All these things can be a great benefit, but it really depends on your situation: If this is your first home and you actually need to purchase appliances and furniture, then this may be a great incentive for choosing an older home. Then again, if you already have appliances, then these extra perks would just be extra things for you to put at the side of your curb (except for the hot tub, of course!)
Another factor to consider when purchasing a resale home is the repairs and maintenance that may be required. Generally, it’s recommended to inspect the windows, furnace, roof, foundation, wiring, plumbing, and other areas of the property, since those repair costs can be high!
Then again, the price for a resale can also be more affordable than a new home. At the end of the day, the correct choice will depend on the home that’s in front of you, and how badly you want it!
